New Year, New Marketing Trends
Although Pudik has been in the design and marketing business for more than 40 years, I have to say the changes we’ve seen in marketing trends over the past five years alone are - without question - more than what we witnessed in the previous 35 years put together. It’s THAT dramatic! Not only is marketing today a whole new world, it seems like it transforms into yet another ‘whole new world’ every other week. There is always some innovation: a new online retail service, or a new marketing channel; a new technology, or an unexpected and unlikely new social media influencer. If you’re anything like me, sometimes you find it hard to keep track of all the changes in marketing trends while at the same time staying focused on the day-to-day marketing needs of your business and brands.
It is usually around this time of year that industry publications take a look back, as well as a look ahead, at the ever-changing marketing landscape and share expert insights with busy professionals (like you and me) who finally find a little downtime during the holidays to reflect on the year that was and reset for the year ahead.
That said, I wanted to share this link to a highly insightful article from Forbes, “2018 Marketing Predictions From The C-Suite,” that looks ahead to 2018. There were three specific mentions that caught my attention:
- The move to modular marketing;
- Employees as influencers and “brand champions”; and,
- Leveraging communication data to drive business decisions.
I’ll be keeping an eye on these predicted trends as we move into 2018 and will focus on each topic more fully in future posts. So please stay tuned, and if you have thoughts, ideas, or insights you’d like to share about these or any other marketing matters I’d love to hear from you.
